As an experienced media professional I have been fortunate in my career to work with broadcasters, journalists, doco-filmmakers, cultural and community organisations and individuals around the world. I have worked as both a content creator, digital journalist and production advisor producing content for marketing and covering stories and events for news, broadcast and social media. I am currently located in NSW's Newcastle-Hunter Valley region providing freelance media services. My family heritage is firmly connected to the Hunter with several generations of my family building their lives here and taking their place in the rich history of the area. I work with family historians, individuals and families celebrating anniversaires, special occassions or looking to put together family histories or tributes for a loved one. As well as working with individuals, I provide videography, photography and copywritng services for digital media and marketing. I work with local organisations showcasing local history, heritage architecture, events and projects. I also assist businesses that may have a heritage link or story through their family, craft or the premises they occupy.

I help you organise, digitalise, retouch, research and present your story the way that best suits you. This could be: Documentary Video Photo Slideshow Classic Coffee Table Book or Album Digital Stories like a website, blog or social media page If you are just looking for you materials to be digitalised, retouched or transcribed, but not turned into a full story, we can do that too.

Video: A typical 1hr documentary style video biography will interweve your video interview (or voiceover), with additional archive photos, documents or other footage, appropriate music, titles and credits. Photo Slideshows & Tributes: These presentations are typically shorter than a full blown documentary but typcially include music, photos, titles and archived footage. I can also include audio voice over or video interviews. They are perfect to share on your socials or to show at an anniversary event, birthday or memorial. Book: Classic coffee table books will tell your family story through text, photos, documents. By including family antedotes as well as local and social history, I aim to go beyond simple names and dates to tell a fuller story. Digital Stories: I can assist you with putting togeether your 'digital stories' whether they are creating a website, blog or posts for social media.

Each production is as unique as your story so there is no 'one price fits all'. Costs do vary considerably and reflect whether you want a written, photo or video project, how long it is, how many interviews there are, the amount of research or additional material involved. When we sit down to discuss your project, I will be able to give you an idea of costs and help you tailor a package to your budget. I will then provide you with a quote, for you to consider before we start. From time to time, there can be changes to the production which might add additional costs but I will always discuss these with you before they are incurred. I am transparent with pricing and outline the costs of any filming, editing, research, music or photo retouching. As a price guide, photo story packages typically start at $150 and video packages at $560.

My quote includes all production meetings, research, the actual filming or audio recording days, professional edting, (including any photo/document digitalisation and retouching) and a final copy of the production with a backup copy available online for one whole year. You decide whether you want a Documentary Video, Photo Slideshow, Classic 'Coffee Table' Book or other form of presentation like website or blog. You will receive a copy of the video/slide show on a personalised USB in a form that you will be able to watch at home on your computer or television and share with your friends and family. A copy will also be available on this website. It will be password protected so that only you, and those you give the password to, can watch it. While Coffee Table Books will be provided in hardcopy, I will also provide a digitalised copy of the book for sharing and peace of mind.

As a professional documentary maker / journalist, I am used to working with people who have never done a film project before. I will guide you through the process and ensure that you have an easy and enjoyable experience. Even before we start filming, I will discuss with you what you sort of story you want to tell and what subjects you want to talk about. On the day of filming, I will come to the location of your choice. The interview will be conducted as a relaxed conversation, prompting you to remember your memories and tell your story in your own words. I will then smooth it out and polish it during the final editing process. If you aren't comfortable with being on video, we can record your audio story instead or put down your biography or family history story in writing. There are many different ways to Tell Your Story and I will work with you to find one that suits you best.

Before we even start filming, I talk to you about what you want the film to look like, how long it will be and what topics we will cover. We will discuss the location (usually this will be your own home), and what you might like to wear etc. ​ On the day of filming, I set up the equipment and get you ready and comfortable. I know that many people are not used to being on camera and can be nervous at first, so I take time to make sure you are at ease so that you look and sound your best. I keep my equipment to a minimum and lead you through the interview process in a conversational style, which most people find to be less intimidating when not used to being on camera. Depending on how much you have to cover, a typical interview will last about 1-2hrs, and we will take breaks whenever you want to.

I want you to feel as comfortable as possible, so for all discussions about the production, and the filming itself, I will come to you, or the location of your choice. I find that most people feel more comfortable filming their interview in places that are familar to them. I are based in NSW, Australia and service the Greater Sydney, Newcastle-Hunter and Mid North Coast regions.

For most biographical and local history videos, my standard turn around time in getting the final production back to you, is 4 weeks from filming. If you need to have it finished more urgently than that, please bring this up when you first contact me. Tribute Photo-Videos for funeral services have an express 48hr turnaround time (starting from when I receive the content).

I will ensure your details and any photographs, documents or footage is securely protected while in my possession. When I provide you with the final production, I will also return to you any original documents, photographs, footage or music that you gave me to copy. If you wish, I can also provide a digital copy of your original photographs and documents and I also provide digital re-touching services to restore damaged photos.

I understand that sometimes dates need to change and will always try to be as flexible as possible to accomodate you.

This is your story so of course you are allowed to have a say in the end product. I will try to accommodate reasonable changes within the scope of our initial plan. However, if the changes you want are significantly different from what we initially agreed (e.g. you want to include additional interviews or footage) I will advise you of any additional time or costs before we start on the changes.

I am sure you are going to love your finished story, because I work with you before, during and after filming to get it right. However, if for some reason you are still not happy I will try my best to work with you to make reasonable changes.

I understand that your personal story is your property and should only be shared with the people you want share it with. I will ensure your details and any photographs, documents or footage is securely protected while in our possession and will return any items you gave me when I provide you with the final production. As part of your package, you will be able to access your film through this website. Client Pages are "password protected". This means each client has their own unique password allowing you to choose who can see your video. Of course you can also choose not to have a copy of your story saved online. In most cases, the Copyright for the end film and its content will be owned by you. Where Copyright permissions are required for music, photos or documents I will ensure that is appropriately authorised for the use you have advised me of (there may be additional copyright charges involved). I do request that I am able to use short clips of your story for promotional purposes.

Yes. I will keep your film archived so that you will be able to obtain another copy if you need to at some point in the future. There will also be a password protected copy available on this website for up to 1 year.
